Serge Joseph Landry, the 16-year-old Moncton hemophiliac who contracted the HIV virus through tainted blood transfusions, died Friday at his Highfield Street home after a long bout with AIDS-related illnesses.

Serge Landry Born in Moncton, Serge was a son of Normand and Anne Marie (LeBlanc) Landry and a former student at Mathieu-Martin High School. He attended Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Moncton.

Besides his parents and twin brother, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Lola Landry of Pré-d'en-Haut; maternal grandparents, John and Doreen LeBlanc of Dieppe; two sisters, Micheline and Denise, both at home; and a brother, Etienne, also at home.

The body will be at Chartersville Funeral Home, Dieppe, this evening. The funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at Ste. Thérèse Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe. Interment will be in Pré-d'en-Haut Roman Catholic Cemetery.
